Join the News Literacy Community
Sponsored by News Literacy Project

Welcome to the News Literacy community! You’re taking an important step towards equipping your students with 21st-century skills, and we at the News Literacy Project are excited to support you along the way. News-literate students think for themselves, assess the quality of information they are consuming and are prepared to actively participate in civic life. They can distinguish between news and opinion, original social media accounts and branded content, and genuine video and AI-generated deepfakes. These skills are more important than ever.

As part of this professional learning community, you’ll receive free tools to begin or enhance your teaching of critical thinking skills. Learn best practices, find classroom ideas and stay up to date on news literacy topics. Whether you are a classroom teacher, librarian, administrator, or education professional, you have a role to play in developing future-ready students.

Has an ad ever popped up in your social media feed that feels a little too targeted? Sometimes it feels like the algorithm knows us better than we know ourselves... (shudder!) Introduction to Algorithms on the Checkology® virtual classroom guides students through the world of algorithms and generative AI as they weigh the civic and social impact of these technologies.
